I love pastries in fact I define myself as a foodie, and in that journey I’ve discover some stuff I want you to know…so here’s my Rosetta story, one day two years ago my mother and I were walking through my beloved City of Mexico, and we discover a little place with a lot of people waiting outside, we thought it might be the opening of a restaurant, but when we came closer we discover it was a bakery that has been there some time ago, so we decided to tried some of their pastries, GOSH it was marvelous I tried a cardamom roll with ricotta cheese, and I swear I felt heaven in my palate.
So today I’m going to tell you about this excellent bakery, and where to find them cause if you are thinking about coming to Mexico City, you should try some of there pastries cause I’m telling you are never going to taste something equal.
Who they are
The bakery is a creation of the mexican chef Elena Reygadas who in 2014 was picked as Latin America’s Best Female Chef, she trained at the French Cuilinary Institute of New York, she also worked at London in a Michelin starred restaurant called Locanda Locatelli. Rosetta pastries are made entirely hand made, only mixers and oven are used, the bakeries serve, coffee, tea, juices, sandwiches, breakfasts. Also their coffee comes from small mexican producers, internationally recognized for superior quality.
Some of you might be thinking what to try, well it depends on what you like but here are my top 3:
- Lemon Pie: Its the definition of the perfect combination of sweet and sour, the lemon pie has a crunchy base, then a layer of bread and after that you have a sour lemon cream with raspberries and a coat of meringue.
- Cardamom roll with ricotta cheese: Not your average cinammon roll, if you love aromatic food this one is totally for you!
- Eights: Im not a fan of custard, but this bread change that, cause I swear I could eat millions and never get tired of eat, also you can try the marmalade and custard eight which again has that sweet and sour balance.
I mean those are my top three but I also love their eggs, quiches, their sweet pork sandwich, if you love teas or coffee, I totally recommend their greenmatcha (both latte and normal), their espresso with cardamom ice cream and of course an americano.
